Pyramid Lake (Jasper)

Just an all around great way to spend the day!

This multipurpose lake will find something to interest everyone!

Sandy beach, canoe/kayak rentals, swimming, fishing, nature walks, ice cream, picnic spots, a beautiful resort to stay at. What more do you need on a hot Alberta day!

We started the day by heading to the day use area, checking out the beach and setting up the boat for some fishing! With its relatively small size and “L” shape, its pretty easy to fish and a small size boat would work just fine!  Also making its a good paddle where your not going to get caught in a huge mountain weather change!

The water is not glacier feed entirely so its a little blue without the freezing to death temperatures! But watch out for the lake and rainbow trout!! They’ve been caught up to 10lbs (thats pretty freaking big!!!!)

As far as I know, the resort on the lake as well as On-Line Sport & Tackle Ltd rents out all kinds of boats and are already in place at most of the lakes around town. Making it super easy to rent. They will also supply you with fishing gear, licenses, electric motors and batteries! No need to drag all your own if its a long trip!

Although short and sweet, my favourite thing about this lake is the island walk out. A wooden bridge at the end of the lake leading to a treed island with a few picnic tables was a true mountain cliche. And I loved every minute of being a tourist in my own province!!! Have a picnic, relax and listen to the bird chirping. Some of my favourite things to do.

This is a pretty touristy spot, but its worth your time to check out. Patrica lake is also on the way out which is also a popular swimming destination with mountain bike trails leading from town all through the lakes. I told you there was something for everyone!
